Bali is known as a food lovers paradise (along with the beaches and beautiful temples!)
But with endless restaurants in popular areas like Canggu and Uluwatu, knowing where to eat in Bali is a must to make the most of your experience. Jodi narrows down her top hit list for us.
Hidden down a winding cliffside path just past Padang Padang, Le Cliff is the kind of place the kind of coastal hideaway you dream up precisely because it doesn’t try too hard.
Mornings here are all about waking to the sound of waves crashing below, best savoured with strong coffee and fresh fruit on your sun-dappled deck.
The café itself is the heart of it all — a casual, semi-open space with linen-draped daybeds and small tables that spill out over the cliff. The vibe is simple: fresh tropical breakfasts, good coffee, cold beers, and unfussy comfort plates that taste even better after a swim. It’s the perfect pit stop after a surf at Impossibles or Padang Padang — boards propped up against driftwood railings while barefoot guests linger over smoothie bowls and fish tacos.
It’s not a place that shouts for attention — there’s no DJ booth, no giant swings, just the raw, endless blue of the Indian Ocean and a view that feels like your own secret. Come for lunch, stay for sunset, and book a night if you can.
LE CLIFF
Jalan Labuan Sait, Bali, Uluwatu, Indonesia
In a corner of Uluwatu better known for surf breaks and clifftop sunsets than polished dining, Ours has carved out a space that feels like a stylish coastal sanctuary — equal parts café, restaurant and neighbourhood hangout for those who want their brunch with a side of understated cool.
Designed with the kind of breezy minimalism that Bali does so well, Ours is all sun-bleached walls, rustic wooden beams and lush palms creeping into open-air courtyards. It feels a little Mediterranean, a little Australian, but unmistakably Balinese in spirit — think long communal tables, rattan chairs, and soft indie playlists drifting through the warm air.
The menu is an ode to fresh, wholesome eating — a tight edit of comforting classics done simply but exceptionally well. Fluffy ricotta pancakes, green shakshuka with homemade sourdough, vibrant grain bowls and perfectly poached eggs. Come evening, the vibe shifts seamlessly: flickering candles, a curated wine list, fresh seafood and charred vegetables.
What really makes Ours special, though, is its atmosphere. The crowd is a blend of clued-up locals, stylish expats and sun-kissed surfers fresh from the break. Drop by for a lazy breakfast before hitting the beach, or settle in for dinner under the fairy lights as the night hums to life. Effortlessly casual but quietly refined, Ours is proof that good taste and good company never go out of style — no matter how laid-back the Postcode.

Hidden on a quiet bend just outside Ubud’s leafy centre, Tis Café has fast become one of those word-of-mouth spots you almost don’t want to share. Equal parts café, day club, and tropical hangout, it blends Bali’s love for beautiful brunches with a laid-back poolside vibe that’s refreshingly unpretentious.
At first glance, Tis looks like the dreamiest treehouse you’d design in your head — all open-air wooden pavilions, woven rattan, and an infinity pool that seems to spill directly into the surrounding rice paddies. It’s the sort of setting that demands you stay longer than you planned.
The all-day menu is a smart mix of what Bali does best: vibrant smoothie bowls, fresh pastries, Indonesian staples done well. The real draw, though, is the all-day pool scene. Guests drift from sun-dappled tables to cushioned loungers, grazing on fresh salads or sipping a coconut while the afternoon hums by.
What makes Tis Café stand out in café-saturated Ubud is its atmosphere. It’s social but never rowdy, with warm, relaxed service and a soundtrack that’s more mellow indie than tourist pop. Come early when the mist still lingers on the paddies, or stay late for a sunset swim and a swing over the rice fields. Tis Café is exactly what Bali gets so right: simple pleasures, delivered beautifully.
