Hvar is a magnet for yachting types, leading to endless expensive rustic-chic seafood restaurants. Whether you’re looking for succulent pasta dishes, which are a favourite Croatian meal, or the best of the seafood offerings, we share our most treasured local treats so you don’t have to do all the research!
Located on a charming side street of downtown Hvar, Fig Hvar is full of fun with a menu inspired by the travels of its owners Rob and Geoff, using an abundance of locally grown produce.
Rob’s Australian background and Croatian heritage are found in his personality and cocktails. Geoff is a native of California and brings his culinary creativity to Fig through inspired menus that reflect his experience as a world class chef and seasoned traveller.
This little gem of a café offers a new and vibrant dining experience for breakfast, lunch and dinner, but it is our true favourite find for an early morning brunch. The Vegetarian Breakfast Burrito and Fig & Farm Cheese Flatbread with local poached figs and roasted walnuts is surprisingly good!

Gariful is one restaurant that has become the most exclusive and sought-after foodie destination on the island of Hvar. Still a family restaurant after so many years, its harbour side location on Punta Riva, is one of many factors owing to its popularity. The other is its reputation for fresh, homemade food. In the summer months, Gariful comes to life in the afternoon, when the sun begins to set towards Pakleni islands, staff grill the just caught fish and fresh vegetables.
Here you can take in the stunning views from the terrace of the restaurant, overlooking the super yachts moored on the Hvar waterfront, whilst enjoying some of the best tastes of Croatian seafood cuisine.

Only approachable by boat or water taxi from Hvar, Toto is a sort after setting with its chilled, beach-vibe restaurant by day, while at night, it transforms into a magical haven, lit with lanterns on tabletops, where guests look out over the moored boats shimmering in the bay.
Whilst the quality of food is top priority here, the unspoilt dining experience is also of most importance, being the largest restaurant in the bay, it is also the one with the least number of places – just 96. Tables are spaced out, including a few completely private, tucked away in the lush greenery. This relaxing, natural environment without the crowds, only adds to the appeal.
The menu has an understandable emphasis on traditional seafood, with a highly recommended tasting platter before moving on to mains. Toto’s is very well-known for its lobster, scampi and tuna, but you will never go far wrong with the fresh catch of the day.
