For natural luxury and a real chance to disconnect from busy lives, head across the ocean to the Elysian Retreat situated on long island in Queensland’s Whitsundays.
The Australian family-owned boutique retreat became the first 100% solar powered island resort on the Great Barrier Reef in April 2019. Using biodegradable cleaning products, natural wild ingredients, refillable guest amenities, and waste production is minimised. Elysian Retreat proves that luxuries need not be sacrificed in the search for sustainability. They operate the kitchen, spa, restaurant, along with 10 air-conditioned villas off solar power and batteries and offsets 150 per cent of its annual greenhouse gas emissions.
